The subject of Mary Magdalene and who she truly was – before patriarchy got ahold of her and turned her into a whore (they do that to magical women, you know) – is one I love. I follow and support people who research and write about her and am fascinated by what’s been uncovered about her (and Jesus).
I believe that when we dive head-long into mystical truths about women, divine feminine, and our long-maligned magical nature, we heal parts of ourselves.
And so, I wonder…what was written in the first six pages of Mary Magdalene’s gospel? What was so profound and powerfully magical that the ruling patriarchal systems obliterated it?
Whatever it is – and moreover, the reaction to it – makes me want to ferociously follow where all this leads. It makes me want to be one of those women they would have tried to silence. And maybe still do?
